Wedding Style 101

Friday, September 8, 2017

Hey all!

This post is something I am SO excited to finally talk about. Today we are talking about the etiquette of how to dress when you are invited to a wedding! I don't talk about wedding outfits often, but perhaps we should change that.

For the gents, The Black Tux is a great option that is out there. They are an online tuxedo rental company that also offers suit rentals and other formal wear for occasions like prom, weddings, etc. No matter what the occasion they can make you look your best, but not better than the bride ;). Below is a handy guide created to help you in any type of wedding occasion you might encounter this season!

Ladies, they have great tips for you as well so don't feel left out! Me, myself and I have to have a plan for EVERYTHING in my life. So it's no surprise that I need a little guidance on whats appropriate for each occasion.

Casual
  • If you're going to a wedding like this I recommend not being too casual (jeans, distressed, t-shirts) The best advice? Dress like you were going to church. So a sundress will do!
Semiformal

  • Check out the picture below! I decided to give you a good wedding option since I like visuals and not just descriptions. It's something you can wear to a wedding even if you don't know the dress code.
Formal
  • The only formal event I attended was my prom and my fraternity's banquet last year. For these fancy occasions, I recommend a long dress or cocktail dress. Stick to black or muted colors if you are doing a long evening dress so you don't take away from the bride or bridal party.
Since it is fall, my last piece of advice is for any fall wedding you plan to attend.  I would wear something in the fall colored realm: hunter green, mustard yellow, or like my wine colored dress below. I also gave some more options here for you:

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 //
Floral patterns are always great for any occasion/event. I personally want something that is plain in color so I can dress it up with my fabulous jewelry. Dresses with bell sleeves or a type of knit are comfortable and stylish!

I hope you like this post and I look forward to giving tips for other seasons!

Project Confidence

Friday, August 18, 2017

Hey all!

Today's post is gonna be a little more personal than most. I came across Dia&Co talking about confidence and stepping out of your comfort zone by trying fashion styles you might be too afraid of.

Dia&Co is a monthly subscription service box where you get a curated box of fashionable clothes from a stylist that works with you to cater to your specific style! Not only do they challenge each other and their clients to not feel like they are stuck in a box of certain clothing they are allowed to wear, they have challenged me as well. I decided to share with you an outfit that is outside of my comfort zone.

When facing my fashion fears and wearing something that I might be too afraid of I couldn't think of anything at first. It is rare for me to find a clothing trend I don't try because I don't think I can rock it. But when I thought about it some more I realized that there is a lot I haven't tried or that I won't because it might make other people stare at me in a way that is judgmental.

When I was in high school I would never wear something like this let alone buy it from a store. I wore the same 5/6 styles of clothing and I never wore anything too revealing until maybe this past year. I would wear anything that hid my curves and was flowy or baggy enough to not show my stomach. The older I got the more daring my style has become and the more my confidence has grown because of testing my own limits of what makes me comfortable.

I chose to wear something really form fitting. That hugs all my curves that I used to hate but I now have accepted them as a part of me and want to show them off proudly! I found this dress from GS Lovesme and knew it was perfect with this post. It is off the shoulder which is great because I love my shoulders. I paired it with a statement necklace, agate stone bracelet, and some fun tassel earrings. I pulled my hair back because my shoulders were the focus and put on some laser cut heels to finish the whole outfit.

I really enjoyed doing this post and hope to do more like this in the future!

Back-To-School

Friday, August 11, 2017

Hey all!

IT'S BACK TO SCHOOL TIME!

I have several back-to-school posts in mind to help give you some idea's of what to wear, what should be in your school bag as a college student, and even transitioning to fall weather.

But for now, let's focus on this outfit. For me, this is a more casual outfit that I would wear to school or even to hang out with friends or wear to work. I would switch out my heels for sandals or even some rose gold Birkenstocks. Whatever you think is comfortable to wear all day to school. During the school year, I mostly like to wear comfy clothes but fashionable. So lots of bralettes and soft knit tees and cut off jean shorts with minimal jewelry. I hate sweating so much and feeling like I am choking by my statement necklaces or bracelets so I just stick to one necklace and some studs.

I found this dress at Francesca's and it fits like a glove. I also love the color for transitioning into fall. It's only $44 and if you like the soft material and cut then you could buy another for 50% off since they're doing BOGO50. To help make this look less made up I tied a maroon/purple flannel around my waist.

I paired it with a black bralette which peeks through perfectly with the halter of the dress. I found these heels at DSW and they are honestly the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I can work a 5hr shift and not have to change into sandals. I also paired my other Sugarfix earrings I got and a purple pendant together. And you can't see but my watch has purple elephants in it and I am obsessed.

There you have it! This is my back to school outfit and I can't wait to do some more!

For The Love of Blush Ft. GS Love

Friday, August 4, 2017

Hey all!

So this week my boyfriend is visiting me and we have a whole weekend of fun planned together. I'll probably be posting about it on Instagram and other media's. Yesterday we caught up with another friend of mine and went to this amazing donut place called the Fractured Prune if you're in the Glendale area you need to try it.

I got a few items to do some full outfit posts in certain brands clothes to focus more on them and what I think about their clothes. Today's post is about this company I came across called GS Love on Instagram from some other plus size bloggers. So I decided I wanted to do a post on this shirt (its sold out now so I linked something similar!) and shorts as soon as I saw them I knew exactly the outfit I had in mind.

At first, I was really worried about sizing and when I am ordering from someplace new I have to take into account the make of the clothing and the reviews on items. In my opinion, I think some of the more chiffon type material is true to size if not a size smaller. So you won't have much wiggle room, and I'd get a size bigger for those type of blousy materials. But the more soft shirts or tee's they are true to size and roomy even. These shorts were a little tight but I like that they don't move and they're so soft and comfy.

I did buy a dress from them I plan on wearing soon as well. But overall I really liked a lot of their items on their website. They are so colorful and fun and way outside of my comfort zone which is perfect. I can't wait to try more! Stay tuned for the next post on GS Love!

Malori
